How common are recurrences for Herpes?


Half people with HSV-1 would experience a recurrence. Four out of five persons caused by HSV-2, would have one recurrence at least. The most common signs is occasional recurrences, which is about 4 attacks every year for some people.

Usually, the first year for herpes is the most viral activity. When a recurrence comes, the virus sleep in the nerve ganglia replicate, and particles of virus travels along the nerve to the place of primary infection in the skin or mucous membranes, such as moist lining of the mouth etc. And then some symptoms will happens.

Some people could tell when they are about to have a recurrence, because the area involved begins to feel sore, itchy, or tingly. Learning how to recognize these warning symptoms is very important, as it allows you to take some protective measures and to use antiviral medications to lower the pain effectively.
