How do you get herpes?
Herpes Transmission
Cold sores and herpetic lesions are highly contagious. You get them initially from people who have them at any time.
1. Cold sores usually happen by direct contact, such as skin to skin, or as a result of sharing eating utensils, razors or towels.
2. Unlike viruses that could be transmitted through the air by a cough or sneeze, herpes simplex is spread only through skin-to-skin contact. The virus could enter the body through a break in the skin or through the soft tissue of the mouth….
3. Herpes is most easily spread one if blisters or sores are visible on the infected person. But it could also be spread anytime, even when there aren’t any signs or symptoms.
Herpes could also be spread from place to place on your own body, such as from your genitals to your fingers, then to your eyes or to other body parts.
